The prominent styles in this city are Baroque, Gothic, Art Nouveau and Renaissance out of the fifteen different styles. The Charles Bridge spans the Vltava River and boasts as most famous landmark and has stood for hundreds of years. It is wide enough to carry four carriages in the olden days, today it marvels as a pedestrian utopia. Twenty eight great monuments and statues lines either side of the bridge and Jesus on the cross is one of them and erected in 1629. The others has been there since 1707, 1980 and other years and the latest Saint Cyril and Saint Methodius in 1938.
Meticulous renovation and restoration has been done to all Prague’s architectural wonders to preserve their historical legacy. Close to 600 years is what it took to construct the St. Vitus Cathedral as one of Prague’s famous landmarks. The architectural history is made with the Baroque Palace, the Archbishops Palace and was reconstructed many times during the centuries. The Old Town Square attracts thousands of visitors to the celebrated Astronomical Clock. Another must-see is the Prague Castle and as it is in the enormous royal complex, it is also known as the Hradcany Castle. The list is endless to this wondrous capital of the Czech Republic with its unpredictable and unique architecture and convoluted streets with unforgettable walking tours.
